Members. 573. Posted July 28, 2021. Soulbeast can "merge" with their pet, and you can add additional skill set to use in combat. Or you can stow the pet, if you don't even want that option. Either/or, soulbeast does have options beyond having your pet run around now. Bears actually have more vitality than Moas. Having high vitality doesn't necessarily make it a great tank. The devourer pets have more toughness and they fight from range plus they can retreat under ground. Just found something out in game that will help us rangers out there. In Ascalon there is an ogre event where you can purchase an ogre whistle from a vendor once you completed the meta. This whistle allows you to pull out a second pet at random while you in PVE. Sadly you can't use this for WvW or PvP, but you can use it for everything else
An easier trade off (that would also keep the complexity of soulbeast) would be 1. No pet heal on merge, 2. Revert pet swap changes, and 3. Increase the cooldown for pet swap (and maybe pet skill cooldowns). 30s switch, 75s revive, 10% increase to pet cooldowns, with fine tuning for the spec to keep it from being too OP.
